DIGGIN’ IN– BVP and our STAT Of The Day 5/28

In MLB by Petec0525Leave a Comment

Good morning folks! The long holiday weekend is over and hopefully the DFS Gods were good to you.  Now its back to the grind of your everyday job and back to the grind of us trying to unearth that diamond in the rough or contrarian play that is going to boost you to DFS baseball victory.

Let’s take a look at today’s MLB games and see if we can find positive BVP (Batter vs. Pitcher) stats to assist in our DFS research.   A criteria that I use is a minimum 10 plate appearances and research goes no farther back than 5 years.  Players change over the course of their career so it wouldn’t be beneficial or fair to make assumptions on certain veteran players (Adam Wainright or Jake Arrieta would come to mind). At the end we will reveal our MLB Advanced STAT of the day.

DUE TO THE LACK OF MANY POSITIONAL PLAYERS WITH A POSITIVE BVP FOR TODAY WE ARE JUST GOING TO LIST THE PLAYERS THAT WE FILL WILL HELP YOUR LINEUP:

Nick Ahmed (vs Senzatela)  4/10; .400 BA/1.055 OPS/.435 wOBA/.200 ISO

Shin Soo Choo (vs. Gonzalez)  5/10; .500 BA/1.183 OPS/.521 wOBA/.100 ISO

Joey Gallo (vs. Gonzalez) 4/13; 2 HR; 5 RBI; .308 BA/1.077 OPS/.446 wOBA/.462 ISO

BVP OF THE DAY-  JOEY GALLO

ADVANCED STAT OF THE DAY

STACK WEEK– This week I will be reviewing the advanced stats that I use when choosing which teams to stack in large scale multi entry GPP’s.

FIP – (Fielding Independent Pitching)

Per Yahoo Fantasy FIP counts only the events over which a pitcher has the most control- strikeouts, walks, hit by pitches and the home run.  It excludes balls hit into the field of play. FIP is expressed numerically the same as ERA.

Example= A pitcher with a high ERA and low FIP means he has been very unlucky.

When choosing a team to stack you want to look for a pitcher with a high FIP.  The ERA can be very deceiving and doesn’t actually tell how well the pitcher is pitching. A lot of DFS players will see the low ERA is and just assume he is not to be targeted.  Dig a little deeper and realize that the pitcher has been lucky and is due for a bad outing.

The FIP is just one tool to use in your quest to find the perfect stack. By the end of the week you will have a whole tool box full of tools to assist you.

The following are the current FIP leaders for the 2019 season:

Best of Luck everyone!!!!!!
