What to expect from this article:  I will be breaking down a preferred player pool by position and having notes about specific matchups.  Once we see some games played we can possibly provide an expected lineup and formations.  Lineups usually release about 30-90 minutes before a game, so my best advice is jump into our Discord Chat and our Team can advise you of lineup plays and questions can be asked. Good Luck!

DFS Soccer Run-down:

We will be targeting two different type of lineup builds between DK and FD.

On Draftkings you are awarded for crosses and will want players that accumulate stats by playing wide, attacking or on set pieces.  When a player is on “Sets” this simply means he is favored to be the player on the ball for corner kicks and free kicks.  Each corner kick usually results in a cross and you will see guys accrue a goals worth of fantasy points by crosses alone.  Shots on goal are also a juicy stat but much harder to predict.  So generally if you hear a guy is on “Sets” then he will be a target for DK and even more so if he is on a betting favorite.  DFS Soccer has a lot to do with possession of the ball.  The more a team has the ball, then ideally the more. stats they can accrue.

Fanduel works a bit differently as Goals and tackles are much more of a desired stat and Goal scorers and Centre backs (CBs) come in to play.  You can still accrue stats but picking out the goal scorers becomes much more important.  Also having a winning goalkeeper is much more important because of their scoring system.

Diagram Key:  RED CIRCLES (Set takers/Preferred CASH plays), GREEN CIRCLES (CASH plays), YELLOW SQUARE (GPP plays)…If a Player is underlined in Red it means he has taken SET pieces before and could steal a few.

Expected Lineups

**We will have expected lineups soon.  Here are some game notes.**

Burnley vs Wolverhampton

**UPDATE:  No Surprises for Burnley here.  They never really go outside their comfort zone on lineups.  Moutinho is in so Neves loses his luster for me.  Moutinho should be owned in CASH but don’t look past Adama Traore as he is a stud.  He is CASH and GPP viable.  For Fanduel I would heavily consider Raul Jimenez.  On the Burnley side for FD Chris Wood is worth a GPP dart.**

Game notes:    Burnley has secured safety for the season and this game clearly means more to Wolves then it does to Burnley as there is still European football to play for in Wolverhampton.  This game line seems accurate enough as WOL is the better team but each of these clubs play a defensive style of football and with Manchester City on the slate there is going to be very limited exposure on this game.  Joao Moutinho is the SET taker for WOL and will be a CASH game target (RubenNeves looks in line to take SET pieces based on expected lineups and he is a very well priced MF) but he has been putrid lately.  I would prefer to maybe pay for the WOL wingbacks Doherty/Vinagre/Jonny over any BIG pieces from either team.   Dwight McNeil is always in CASH consideration, but this does not seem like a game we can realistically even stack with Man City lurking.  **FANDUEL Specific I love playing Raul Jimenez here since he should get volume.  James Tarkowski is also a solid play in the defender role.  The back 3 for WOL especially Boly is very in play as they are SET piece targets.**

Manchester City vs Bournemouth

**UPDATE:  Allllllllllllllllllllrighty so we have no KDB and no Mahrez…..  So looks as if we get Ilkay Gundogan day and he should be on SET pieces and PK duty which makes him a must play here.  At least in CASH.  Foden and Bernardo start up top with Gab Jesus so I recommend stacking em up still.  With salary to play with means you can consider a different route but I still prioritize Man City.  With this City side I can actually consider Stanislas today.  He has been good against tough sides recently so I will leave it as that.  Mendy and Walker starting at Fullbacks.  For FANDUEL I think you lock in jesus and 1/2 of Foden/Bernardo and then look to play Kane or SON from Tottenham.  (I prefer Son)**

Game Notes:  YOU WILL NEED TO STACK Manchester City ON THIS SLATE.  I feel my premium subscribers look to maybe try and get an edge and maybe cheat on some salary and grab some non Man City salary savers but that is doing it wrong.  Play KDB if he starts and if not Play Mahrez now as he is probably getting the SET pieces.  If both start then you can consider playing a Mahrez fade for Sterling/Jesus/Foden/Silva(s) are all now very in play so I think the approach is play Mahrez plus 2-3 more pieces between the guys I listed and the fullbacks.  BOU is sneaky and can counter attack.  Junior Stanislas is a great piece on most slates to use as he gets SET majority and Diego Rico is no slouch either.  BOU is prob a full fade unless you play a defender as a punt.  **FANDUEL specific you will be forcing Gab Jesus and Mahrez in your lineups.  You can gravitate more towards John Stones or Otamendi here for salary relief.**

Newcastle vs Tottenham

**UPDATE:  With City not having Mahrez, Sterling or KDB in it seems like SON will be the target in CASH games.  Lo Celso can be an option today but I lean elsewhere.  Kane is in so do with that what you will.  Matt Ritchie is starting and he should dominate SETs with Shelvey grabbing a few.  Yedlin and Krafth are cheap fullbacks if you need salary relief.  For FANDUEL I like Serge Aurier a lot.  He is good on DK also but he is heavily involved and worth consideration in CASH.  To Kane or not to Kane is the question for builds.  You know where I lean.**

Game Notes: This will be the close game on the slate no one expects to be close.  Tottenham theoretically should roll here but they have been shaky and just when I want to think they have been able to right the ship they go back and amaze me by being poor against a beatable Arsenal team.  Newcastle is solid in every aspect of the game and Harry Kane may be declining before our very eyes.  I may have just reverse jinxed him here but he has struggled and looks at this point in. his career to get tap in goals and penalty kicks.  He is pure GPP for me.  I would be interested in Heung Min-Son who has been better than anyone else on this roster and is almost a guarantee for a double digit fantasy output.  Problem is you would be losing a Man City stud piece and that is not the correct formula in CASH.  In GPP or for leverage go ahead and roster SON.  I am fading Lo Celso as I am tired of losing money playing him.  Not happening again GIO!!  Not again!  Serge Aurier and Ben Davies are solid CASH fullbacks and I really like Matt Ritchie (Jonjo Shelvey looks in line to grab full SET duty) or Miguel Almiron for NEW here.  They both have CASH floors and are not overpriced.  Yet again I say though…..  STACK Manchester City!  **Fanduel Specific Harry Kane will get ownership here but I think he is a fade today.  Unless you just love playing him which in that case you need some help….  Play Son here in a much better spot and consider Dwight Gayle in GPP.**

  1. I do not Tout GKs for Dfs soccer because anything can happen.  Here is my thoughts though for this position.
  2. Try to not play a GK against your attacking players.  Unless it is a small slate (3 games or less).
  3. I usually don’t like to pay up for GK unless I think the bottom of the pool Keepers could legitimately go negative.
  4. GKs can be scored on and still be great plays.  Saving a shot on goal and giving up a goal can net a zero.  Clean sheet bonuses and wins both give you Dfs points but it is much easier to predict shot volume against than predicting clean sheets.  I have seen -15000 favorites give up a goal in soccer so nothing is for certain.  If you pay at GK for a huge favorite you may not have your GK see any shots at all which severely hampers your upside.
  5. I usually target the Cheapest GK (normally playing at home) that isn’t against the huge favorites.

Do not forget to get in our Discord Chat.  The Author of this article may not play all the plays listed, as these plays could change based of confirmed lineups.  This article is meant to help with the lineup production process.  Good Luck!
