ODDS

What to expect from this article:  I will be breaking down a preferred player pool by position and having notes about specific matchups.  Once we see some games played we can possibly provide an expected lineup and formations.  Lineups usually release about 30-90 minutes before a game, so my best advice is jump into our Discord Chat and our Team can advise you of lineup plays and questions can be asked. Good Luck!

DFS Soccer Run-down:

We will be targeting two different type of lineup builds between DK and FD.

On Draftkings you are awarded for crosses and will want players that accumulate stats by playing wide, attacking or on set pieces.  When a player is on “Sets” this simply means he is favored to be the player on the ball for corner kicks and free kicks.  Each corner kick usually results in a cross and you will see guys accrue a goals worth of fantasy points by crosses alone.  Shots on goal are also a juicy stat but much harder to predict.  So generally if you hear a guy is on “Sets” then he will be a target for DK and even more so if he is on a betting favorite.  DFS Soccer has a lot to do with possession of the ball.  The more a team has the ball, then ideally the more. stats they can accrue.

Fanduel works a bit differently as Goals and tackles are much more of a desired stat and Goal scorers and Centre backs (CBs) come in to play.  You can still accrue stats but picking out the goal scorers becomes much more important.  Also having a winning goalkeeper is much more important because of their scoring system.

Diagram Key:  RED CIRCLES (Set takers/Preferred CASH plays), GREEN CIRCLES (CASH plays), YELLOW SQUARE (GPP plays)…If a Player is underlined in Red it means he has taken SET pieces before and could steal a few.

Expected Lineups

Bournemouth vs Tottenham

**Update:  Lo Celso is in which makes him a must play here.  Lamela is prob more suited for secondary pieces and is still in a good spot.  Lo Celso and James Ward-Prowse will be your first two plays in your lineup today.   SON IS OUT of the starting lineup today so you have funds to make some nice builds.  Kane is boom bust but in a good spot.  No changes for BOU**

Game notes:  Tottenham comes in as an away favorite and I have admittedly been off of them as I just feel they do not look solid defensively and Jose Mourinho is always changing things up instead of sticking with consistency.  The expected lineup has Erik Lamela listed to start over Lo Celso.  Lamela is a great DFS player but not as good a real life player which is the main reason he is used primarily as a substitute.  Based of what is listed here I can say I do like the Tottenham side more than usual as Steve Bergwijn is a game changer when he is given a start.  His speed alone sets up this side to be able to play wide and give Harry Kane the room he needs to make things happen.  It also allows Heung Min-Son more room to roam the right wing and put pressure on that back line.  Adam Smith and David Brooks are not enough on that side of the pitch to contain Son.  I will lock Son in today and try to possibly pair Kane with him.  Serge Aurier and Ben Davies also make a decent CASH pairing for TOT.  BOU has some intriguing value pieces also.  We were all over Junior Stanislas the last time he started and he rewarded us with a big day.  He should be the majority SET taker and David Brooks and Diego Rico also could share some SET pieces.  With Tottenham having a suspect defense I would not be against playing one of Josh King or Callum Wilson either.  Both play an vital role in the Bournemouth attack but it is always hard to get these double striker teams right.

Everton vs Southampton

**Update:  Lucas Digne should be your third piece in your lineup today as he is a BIG LOCK with no Gylfi Sigurdsson in the starting 11.  Like I said before I like Gordon here but only if he fits.  We should be able to be more balanced in a lineup today with no Son.  Ings is cheap and could score and break the slate.  Redmond is the cheaper more CASH safe option though.**

Game Notes:  Our second match of the EPL mid day slate we get Southampton traveling to Everton in what should be close to a pick-em type affair.  Lucas Digne comes in as the MUST play in CASH games on classic slates due to his high floor and SET taking potential.  Gylfi Sigurdsson also could see some SET pieces and we know he should be over any penalty kicks.  I do think he can be very boom bust and disappear in matches at times.  Everton will need contribution from the fiery Brazilian Richarlison. to get their attack going.  He is a very good CASH Forward play as he gets a lot off Crosses and shots on goal but most importantly he draws a ton of fouls.  Dominic Calvert-Lewin has seemed to cool off lately so he may not be in my player pool today outside of GPP.  I really like the play I have seen from the young Anthony Gordon.  He looks sharp and keen to make his name known in the EPL so keep an eye on him if he starts.  Bernard may draw a start today and, while he is always a sub risk, he provides good value to our CASH lineups.  Coleman is also a solid CASH play at FB but I think paying for Digne makes your second defender spot a pay down.  James Ward-Prowse is a LOCK today for me since he not only takes a majority of SET pieces for SOU but he also is the PK taker there as well and usually plays the entire 90 minutes.  Danny Ings is computing for a scoring title and if you want a pivot off Harry Kane today I love Ings as more of a GPP play.  He has a shot floor so he is NOT a stay away in CASH but you really need a goal for him to pay off and he can definitely net a few if he is keen today as he gets the ever shaky Jordan Pickford in meet for EVE.  Nathan Redmond and Stuart Armstrong are both in play here on the Wing for value pieces and I do like Ryan Bertrand.  I will say Kyle Walker-Peters could be cheap enough to look his way as the former Tottenham player looks to get things rolling on his new team.

Goalkeeper

  1. I do not Tout GKs for Dfs soccer because anything can happen.  Here is my thoughts though for this position.
  2. Try to not play a GK against your attacking players.  Unless it is a small slate (3 games or less).
  3. I usually don’t like to pay up for GK unless I think the bottom of the pool Keepers could legitimately go negative.
  4. GKs can be scored on and still be great plays.  Saving a shot on goal and giving up a goal can net a zero.  Clean sheet bonuses and wins both give you Dfs points but it is much easier to predict shot volume against than predicting clean sheets.  I have seen -15000 favorites give up a goal in soccer so nothing is for certain.  If you pay at GK for a huge favorite you may not have your GK see any shots at all which severely hampers your upside.
  5. I usually target the Cheapest GK (normally playing at home) that isn’t against the huge favorites.

SHOWDOWN EPL BONUS

Aston Villa vs Manchester United

**Update:  There is no surprises for either side in the lineup.  I will say they have Jack Grealish more central as the 10 in the confirmed lineup and I do like him playing central.  I feel out in the wings he doesn’t get to touch the ball as much lately with such poor service from teammates.  I think the exact same in we should expect a Man U heavy possession game.  Tread carefully here and for GPP I think you could legitimately fade all the Payup Villa pieces and play attackers plus David de Gea as the GK piece and maybe consider a Greenwood CPT.**

Game Notes:  This game will be fast and loose today and Man U will look to continue rolling.  Villa defense is very very poor and leaks goals to oppositions.  Aston Villa does have some good players of their own but Man U is on another level.  Bruno Fernandes is LOCK button material as he should be treated in the same light as Kevin DeBruyne and Lionel Messi for DFS purposes on this one due to his work load and ability for this Man U side.  I am NOT saying he is as good as that pairing but based on what he means to this team and his opponent he is lock button all day and my favorite CPT pick.  Playing 2/3 of Rashford, Greenwood and Martial is probably the smart move inn Showdown lineups.  Paul Pogba will be the lower owned wildcard of the group but carving up a poorly disciplined midfield today seems ripe for a GPP deluxe play!  Shaw and Wan-Bissanka are both excellent plays as well with WB probably a lock play for me in CASH.  Jack Grealish is super talented and on a super inferior Aston Villa side.  Good news is he will be with a Big EPL club next season so this is kind of his Villa swan song.  He will look to impress Man U today and I expect him to be very involved.  He should get majority SET share today with El-Ghazi/McGinn maybe getting a few.  McGinn is more a CASH play here as El-Ghazi has more upside and I lean he is a GPP only play.  Konsa/Neil Taylor are both good high pressing fullbacks but they will get pinned deep in the defensive half against United.  I will most likely look to a 4/2 United heavy build today.

Do not forget to get in our Discord Chat.  The Author of this article may not play all the plays listed, as these plays could change based of confirmed lineups.  This article is meant to help with the lineup production process.  Good Luck!
