The College Football Bowl season is winding down and tonight we have one more Draftkings Showdown to get us ready for the National Championship next week.  Louisiana-Lafayette is the big favorite as two run heavy offenses go head to head in the Lending Tree Bowl at Ladd-Peebles Stadium in Mobile, AL (7:30pm)

THE CAPTAINS

Elijah Mitchell RB (ULL) $9,200- Miami (OHO has one of the worst run defenses in the nation so this is a phenomenal spot for ULL’s deep backfield. It’s a 3-way RB committee but Mitchell is still the lead horse averaging 18 DK points and a total of 6 touchdowns over his last 7 games. Overall he had 1,092 yards rushing and 15 touchdowns.

Levi Lewis QB (ULL) $11,600- Had two solid games to close out the season scoring 31.8 and 24.3 DK points. In the Sun Belt Conference Title game against a decent Appalachian State defense Lew threw for 4 touchdowns. Miami (OH) gave up 24 passing touchdowns over the course of the season.

Either player is Captain viable. Lewis is in a strong spot but I would give the edge to Mitchell in cash games due to salary.

UTILITY

LOUISIANA-LAFAYETTE (34.5 implied points)

Raymond Calais RB (ULL) $6,200- 867 yards rushing and 6 touchdowns. Cheapest of the Big 3 ULL running backs and makes sense as a cash play to run with Mitchell.

Trey Ragas RB (ULL) $8,600- 796 yards rushing and 11 touchdowns. Due to his salary being a little higher than Calais, being more touchdown dependent and also lower owned I believe that Ragas makes for a fine GPP Play to run with Mitchell. GPP CAPTAIN
Each lineup (GPP or Cash) should have Mitchell and one of Calais or Ragas. Due to the depth of the ULL running game I wouldn’t be surprised to see all three backs in some GPP lineups.

Jamarcus Bradley WR (ULL) $8,000- Top receiver to pair with Lewis and viable in all formats. Bradley had 53 receptions for 818 yards and 8 TDs – he also 38 more targets than the #2 ULL pass catcher. GPP CAPTAIN

Jarrod Jackson WR (ULL) $5,200 and Peter Leblanc WR (ULL) $2,400- Jackson is the clear #2 WR with a solid floor and Leblanc has jumped over Bell to become the #3. Look for Leblanc to be a chalk play dueto the cheap salary and the fact that he is coming off a game where he had 29.8 DK points (118 yards receiving and 2 TD’s).

Stevie Artigue K (ULL) $4,000- 14/20 on field goals and 62/63 extra points

MIAMI (OHIO) ( 20.5 implied points)

Brett Gabbert QB (MIAOH) $9,600- Way overpriced for a quarterback who hardly throws the football. His highest yardage game of the season was 273 yards and only had two games with multiple touchdown passes. It is a bowl game though and a quarterback always makes for a contrarian GPP captain option.

Jaylon Bester RB (MIAOH) $8,400- The strongest Miami (OH) option. Ran for 689 yards and 12 touchdowns. Scored a touchdown in every game that he played in except the first game of the season. ULL is average against the run.

Tyre Shelton RB (MIAOH) $5,000- Back up to Bester. Ran for 528 yards and 2 touchdowns. Nothing more than a GPP value play in the hope that he vultures a TD from Bester.

Jack Sorenson WR (MIAOH) $7,400- The clear top receiver for MIAOH. Had 416 yards receiving and 4 TD’s. In the last 2 games, he caught 12 passes for 199 yards and 2 touchdowns.

Jalen Walker WR (MIAOH) $5,400 and James Maye WR (MIAOH) $4,600 – The other receivers in the MIAOH offense and due to the lack of passing skill by Gabbert they are nothing more than straight punts in the Showdown.

Sam Sloman K (MIAOH) $3,800- 25/29 on field goals and 32/33 extra points. Viable in a utility role
