Home Run Derby 6/3

In MLB by devin1 Comment

Before we dive in, lets see how yesterdays picks fared.

David Dahl- 2 his, 1 double, 1 RS, 1 RBI- 15.7 Fanduel Points

Joc Pederson- 1 homer, 2 RBI, 1 RS- 22.2 Fanduel Points

Another solid day all around. While Dahl didn’t homer, he continued to provide a super high floor at home with over 15 Fanduel points.

Now for today’s small slate.

Early Game

Anthony Rizzo- Our top rated bat for the entire day, Rizzo and the Cubs are at home taking on the LA Angels. The Angels will be rolling out Cam Bedrosian as an opener, who will then give way to Trevor Cahill as a the long reliever. Because Bedrosian will probably only go 1 inning, we are basing our numbers on Cahill. Lets take a look at why Rizzo is ranked so high today.

As you can see, these are high numbers across the board. Trevor Cahill is in the midst of a disaster season having give up 6 earned runs in 3 of his last 5 starts. On top of that, Rizzo is in the midst of a monster season bating .290 with 16 homers and 43 RBI’s already. The last reason I really like Rizzo here is his home/road splits. He has been absolutely dominate at home this year, as you can see below.

Be sure to swing back and read out single game slate article featuring the Angels vs. Cubs. We will highlight plays from each team and show you all the numbers you need to compete.

Edwin Encarnacion– Our highest rated bat on the main slate, E5 is up against Astro’s rookie, Corbin Martin. Martin is going to be a really good pitcher, but right now he is, understandably, taking his rookie bumps and bruises. Martin has really struggled against righties this year, lets take a look at some numbers for both E5 an Martin.

As you can see, Corbin is getting crushed by righties so far in his young career. But what really stands out for E5 is his success against Corbins main pitch to righties, a 95 mph fastball. In a sizeable sample, E5 has a .442 wOBA, .424 ISO, 49% hard hit rate and average distance of 347 feet against 94-96 mph fastballs from righties. On such a small slate, I would run stacks of all of these teams if running mass entry. Give me E5, Vogelbach, Haniger, Santana here.
