CLAYTON KERSHAW (LH) DODGERS
JON LESTER (LH) CUBS
Cubs are 7-2 in Lester’s 9 Thursday starts
Cubs are 12-4 in Lester’s last 16 road starts
Cubs are 4-1 in last 5 against LH
Dodgers are 4-1 in last 5 against LH
Dodgers are 10-3 in last 13 Thursday games
Dodgers are 40-13 in last 53 home games
9 of last 10 Dodger games have gone UNDER
Anthony Rizzo is one of the rare players that has a positive career BVP against Kershaw. He is 6/16 with 2 HRs and 4 RBIs against the Dodger southpaw.
The Dodgers are the masters of the Platoon. With lefty Lester on the mound we should see-
David Freese ($5,000)- .404 wOBA/.255 ISO/48.6 Hard %
Chris Taylor ($4,000)- .244 ISO/37.5 Hard %
Two cheap right handed bats and Freese has been around the game enough to know how to handle left handers.
And the ususal suspects:
Justin Turner ($7,000) -.331 wOBA/.187 ISO with a strong 53.3 FB% (.409 wOBA since early May) is today’s long ball threat. Lester has not allowed a home run to a left handed bat this season.
Cody Bellinger ($9,500)- .428 wOBA/.296 ISO/53.7 Hard % in LH vs. LH
Max Muncy ($8,000)- .405 wOBA/.274 ISO/46.9 Hard % in LH vs LH
It’s not the old Kershaw but it’s still Clayton Kershaw. His strike out % is down to 22% (still not bad for most other major league pitchers) but his xFIP is 3.29,his GB% is 52.4 and he still doesn’t issue walks. The Cubs will struggle against the left hander.
There is one Cub who feasts on left handed pitching and that is :
Jose Baez- ($7,500) -527 wOBA/.486 ISO
Kevin Bryant ($8,500)- .433 wOBA/.405 ISO
Besides Baez and Bryant it may be worth it to give Anthony Rizzo ($9,000) and his BVP a shot
Turner would be my main choice as MVP since he has the potential to go off. Muncy/Bellinger fit into the All Star role and Dodger right handed bats along with Baez and possibly Bryant or Rizzo as utility spots
