LCS Academy – Sumer Split – 7/23

In Uncategorized by devinLeave a Comment

We are back with another 5 game Academy slate. I consider Academy DFS to be a “niche within the niche” of sports. It’s a smaller league with a major edge for those that do the research. It’s important to note that these contests are Best of 1 which can sometimes lead to some chaotic results. Let’s dive in!

100Ta vs CLGa

In a roster move that many of us expected, 100T has parted ways Meteos. He clearly didn’t want to be with the organization anymore after getting demoted to the Academy. In addition to the Meteos news, 100T has promoted Kenvi and Tenacity from their developmental team. Kenvi will get the start in the jungler spot today and Tenacity is expected to split time with FakeGod in the top lane. There are a lot of new faces for this 100T squad and this will obviously affect their overall team synergy for a few games atleast. With this being close to a coin flip game anyway, I’m going to be backing the CLG side. They have won 3 games in a row and are looking like a solid bet to make the playoffs. One spot to avoid is the top lane as Ruin/Deus have been splitting time for CLG. Just last week, Ruin started the game against DIG while Deus started the next day against IMT. Fragas has to be salivating at this matchup in the jungle against Kenvi(no academy experience.) Wind(71% kp rate) and Tuesday(67.60% kp rate) are also in play and make a very strong 3 man stack along with Fragas for all formats.

Consider:  CLGa – Fragas/Tuesday/Wind, 100Ta – Prismal/Breezyyy

Prediction: CLGa wins due to their huge advatange in the jungle.

C9a vs TLa

Team Liquid announced yesterday that Pocket Rhino would be their academy support for the remainder of the split and gets to debut against a very tough Cloud 9 squad. Palafox has been the driving force behind this C9 squad and has a very impressive 31% kill share. Inori is one of the best junglers in the Academy and has a KDA of 6, a KP rate of 67% and only accounting for 17% of the teams deaths.(very reliable source of fantasy points).

Consider: All of C9a(big focus on Inori and Palafox)

Prediction: C9a in a stomp.

IMTa vs EGa

Those of you that have been reading my content for awhile know that I love EGa, specifically Anda. He is one of the best hard carrying junglers in the league and I have no idea how he hasn’t been called up to the LCS yet. Take a look at some of his numbers: 81.70% KP rate, 1.54 KDR, and a 24.4% kill share. He makes a great one off or the focal point of EGa stacks today. Huni got the call up to LCS as the teams top laner with Kumo being sent down. He didn’t look good in his first weekend with the team and is someone that i’ll be looking to avoid in my EG stacks.

Consider: EGa – Anda/Giyuu/Deftly/Matt

Prediction: EGa with a clean win with a moderate amount of kills.

TSMa vs DIGa

Dkhola is one of the best top laners on the slate in terms of fantasy production can confidently be used as a one off or in TSMa stacks. He will be facing off against V1per who is considered a 1 trick player as his main champion of choice is Riven. I expect TSM to ban Riven which will allow Dhokla to lock down the top lane. Biofrost was demoted to the Academy team but has responded positively to the move and put up 3/3/20 in his first 2 games. This TSM squad is a well oiled machine and should pick up a clean dub over Dignitas today behind the Dhokla hard carry.

Consider: TSMa – All of TSM, DIGa – V1per/Froggen

Prediction: TSM in convincing fashion.

GGa vs FLYa

Oddsmakers have this game as toss up but GGa should come away with a hard fought win. They have advantages in first blood rate, first turrett rate, first dragon rate, and first baron rate. They’re also pretty clearly better in dragon/baron control. Ablazeolive has been  crushing this split and has a KP rate of 80.70% while maintaining a 27% kill share. After Ablazeolive, the team is pretty balanced with the other 4 members having KP rates between 64% and 73%. FLY has gone back to Mash in the ADC role and they won a close game over TSM last week thanks in part to his 3/2/5 performance. Fanattik and Triple are the targets on FLY and both have KP rates north of 73% and kill shares hovering around 25% each. Overall, this game should be bloody and you’ll want to get multiple pieces of each for tournaments with GGa being the cash game target.

Consider: GGa – ZionSpartan/Ablazeolive/Keith/Chime FLYa – Fanatiik/Triple

Prediction: GGa wins a close matchup with lots of high intensity and bloody team fights.
