Edmonton- Oh boy…Ottawa on the 2nd leg of a back to back on the road against Edmonton? Sign me up! We talked about how bad Ottawa is defensively on the road last night and they once again struggled. They once again have slate highs goals against (3.69), Corsi against (48.94) and high danger chances against per game (10.44).
With 1/3 of the top 6 for Edmonton hurt, we get a juicy mix of value with studs here. McDavid is now centering a line with James Neal and Josh Archibald. While Leon is centering for Jujhar Khaira and Sam Gagner. I much prefer the McDavid line here as Neal is having a huge bounce back year and also is on the top PP unit. Gagner is on the top PP unit as well. McDavid, Draisaitl, Neal, Klefbom are the top plays here. With Gagner, Khaira and Archibald all being viable punts.
Colorado PP1- Vegas has the Colorado total right around 3 this morning, but expect that to go up now that Hutchinson has been confirmed in net for Toronto. Hutchinson has been arguably the worst goalie in the league. He has a dreadful .876 save percentage and has allowed 4+ goals in every start this season. Add in the fact that Toronto is on the 2nd leg of a B2B and you have a lot to like about Colorado here.
UPDATE: Freddy Anderson is starting over Hutchinson. I am still high on Colorado, but they are not as sure fire a play now.
Even with Colorado being on the road, I am not shying away. MacKinnon has been INCREDIBLE this season. Keeping an injury riddled Avs team in the playoff hunt. He got Rantanen back last game and the result was a 3 point night for MacKinnon and 4 point night for Rantanen. Donskoi remains an elite value as he is on the top line and top PP unit. Kadri and Makar round out the top PP unit and all are great plays tonight.
Cash Viable Stacks- Toronto PP1/2 (pay attention to the lines here. If Marner returns, we could get some nice value depending on the top PP unit). Pittsburgh PP1, Washington PP1
UPDATE: Marner is back. The Top PP unit features: Marner, Matthews, Tavares, Nylander & Barrie. LOVE this spot for Tyson Barrie.
Stefan Noesen– Noesen is making his debut for the Pens tonight. He has 22 points in 22 AHL games this season. Pittsburgh is throwing him right in the fire with a 2nd line and top PP assignment. All at minimum price on both sites.
Nathan Walker- Walker got promoted to the top line in the 3rd period of the Blues game on the 30th. He responded with a goal that game. In his next game, his first start on the top line, he received a season high 14 minutes and delivered an assist.
Josh Archibald- We already mentioned Archibald above. He is skating on the top line with McJesus. In his first game in that role, he played 16 minutes and scored a goal.
Dominik Kahun- Kahun is going to find himself on this list for as long as he continues to produce at home. In 14 home games, he has 13 points. Dude loves him some home cookin.
Mikko Koskinen leads the way today as the the heavy Vegas favorite. Ottawa also has the lowest total on the board. You will have to pay for Koskinen as he is above 8k on both sites. Keep an eye on who starts for both sides of the Pittsburg game. Jake Allen has been red hot and is very affordable. Both Pens goalies are affordable as well. If you can’t get up to Koskinen on Draftkings, both goalies from that game are viable. Lastly we have the Caps goalie. If Ilya Samsonov starts, he is an especially intriguing Fanduel play. *Note- Always confirm your goalies! Players I have written up are projected to start but that doesn’t mean they will. Confirm your goalie before lock.
Jakub Vrana- We wrote up Vrana last night and he continued to produce with another 2 goals. That gives him a 5 game point streak and goals in 3 of those games. His addition to the top PP unit just adds to his appeal.
John Carlson– Carlson loves to play on the road this year. In 15 road games, he has a monster 24 points. He showed off his road prowess with another 3 points last night. I will be prioritizing the big boys from Colorado/Edmonton in cash, but Carlson makes for a great GPP pivot.
Kris Letang- Letang has goals in 3 straight and his shooting at an extremely high clip with the Pens missing multiple key offensive pieces. In his last 6 games, he has a combined 31 shots and 9 blocked shots to go along with 3 goals and an assist. Like Carlson, great GPP pivot.
This chart is simply a visual aid to help see what lines are scoring the most goals based on home/away splits. For example, Washington 1 is the total points (goals/assists) that Washington 1 + the top defensive pairing have scored combined. Great tool for MME!
