Scratching your head at a few names for today’s MLB slates? Let us help!

Montana DuRapau- Pittsburgh Pirates

Montana is a 27 year old, 32nd round pick, making his first career start. He has appeared in 4 games this year, pitching 4.2 innings with 5 K’s a 1.93 ERA and a .86 WHIP.

Montana has worked out of the pen for most of his career. Pitching to an impressive 2.47 ERA across 280.1 career minor league innings. He started 11 games his rookie year at A (short) level and has not started a game since.

Montana is projected to be the opener for today’s game, making him unplayable in DFS. But, he is a name to keep an eye on moving forward. His unlikely rise could lead to more innings and a potential stop in the rotation.

Corbin Martin- Houston Astros

Corbin made his big league debut on the 12th, going 5.1 innings with 1 walk, 9 K’s and 2 earned runs. All in all, a fantastic debut. Corbin has sky rocketed up the prospect rankings, finding himself #58 overall on MLB’s top 100 prospect list. Lets take a look at what scouts say about him.

As you can see, Corbin has been sensational this year. Today he takes on a tough Boston team, making him a GPP play only. But another kid to put on your radar. He is looking like a top end stud if he can remain consistent.

Ryan Feierabend- Toronto Blue Jays

Ryan is not a prospect. He is a 33 year old knuckleball journeyman who hasn’t pitched in the bigs since 2014 with the Rangers. Lets take a look at his career.

Feierabend hasn’t pitched at any sort of major league level since that 2014 stint. He is back this year and has been respectable at AAA this season with a 2.7 ERA. Vegas likes him to get beat up today, but with a knuckleball, guys can either hit it or they can’t..there is very little in between.
