The U.S. Women’s National Team storms into the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup with a 7-1-2 record (2019).  Interestingly 8 of those 10 matches came against teams that are also competing in France.

The team will suit up to play Thailand tomorrow  in their first game of group play. They rank first in the world according to FIFA’s team rankings, and will be able to handily defeat Thailand, which ranks 34th in the world.

The U.S. qualified after winning the CONCACAF Women’s Championship where the U.S. didn’t allow an opponent to score a goal.

Looking to the matchup between these two teams, Thailand will have issues even registering a goal against the U.S.

PLAYERS TO ROSTER:

TOBIN HEATH ($13,500)

Heath is one of those players who keeps the ball on a string any time it comes nears her.  Heath has scored in three straight games for the USWNT and has netted a goal in seven of her last 10 matches. She is a winner. She is the only player on the USWNT roster who has won titles in the NCAA, NWSL, Olympics, and World Cup. Tuesday will mark Heath’s 150th appearance for the National Team.

Suchawadee Nildhamrong (MIranda Nild) Thailand ($7,100)

Perhaps better known as Miranda Nild to those who follow college soccer . Nild was a star at the University of California. She was voted team offensive MVP in her junior year.   Nild, 22, was born in the U.S. and has 12 goals in 19 appearances at the international level.

JULIE ERTZ ($9,000)

Ertz, 27, was a member of the 2015 World Cup team and is primarily a defensive midfielder. She is able to contribute for the U.S. team on the attack. She has 18 goals on 82 international caps.

ALEX MORGAN ($14,100)

Most famous player in the game- elite. Enough said.

BEST OF THE REST:

MEGA RAPINOE ($12,800)- takes majority of the set pieces

MALLORY PUGH ($9,200)

Midfielders: THE VALUE

JULIE ERTZ ($9,000) see above

SAMANTHA LEWIS (($9,300)

ROSE LAVELL ($6,600) should see ownership due to price

TIPS:

Morgan, Heath and Rapinoe are the big 3.  But you won’t be able to roster all 3 due to salary structure.  It will be difficult to roster 2 of the 3 American stars.  The best way to go is to punt the cheapest Thailand starter (once lineups are announced) and use Lavelle ($6,600).  That leaves you with around $38,000 for 4 American stars.  It won’t be easy.

GOOD LUCK!
